The FirstHouse Program is designed to assist low-to-moderate income homebuyers (primarily first-time homebuyers) with the purchase of a home, by providing mortgages with very competitive interest rates as well as options for down payment assistance. Since its inception in 1993, CHF's FirstHouse Loan Program has helped over 5,500 families and individuals to purchase a home in California and provided over $6 million in Grant funds.
FirstHouse is a Mortgage Revenue Bond loan program backed by tax-exempt bond financing, which allows the program to feature very competitive interest rates, often below the market rates. The program also provides Grants and/or Second Mortgages (when possible) to assist eligible homebuyers with the associated down payment and/or closing costs.
